Fuel Cell Hybrid Locomotive with Modified Fuzzy Logic Based Energy Management System

As one of the most environmentally friendly energy sources today, fuel cells have become focus research in countries around world, especially electric transportation field. This paper mainly studies modeling cell hybrid locomotives (FCHL) including cells, batteries, motors, and management systems. To increase operating efficiency improve performance FCHL, a modified fuzzy logic-based system (MFL-EMS) is proposed compared with traditional power flow (PF-EMS). Meanwhile, model for proposed, taking into account traction motor features that, simplified controlled source load, can directly reflect status locomotive running speed output load. The parameters configurations are determined by combining characteristics density, response characteristics, charging/discharging batteries. precise simulation results revealed that adopting MFL-EMS comparison to PF-EMS, reduced hydrogen consumption 2.943%. Comparing battery voltage, it confirmed tends be steeper than showing strategy’s robustness. Overall, obtained an improved terms distribution as well SOC, which means less therefore more economical solution.
